BMW has gone ahead and announced their new version of the i3 and the i3s which comes along with a ton of new updates.

The i3 gets a modest makeover, with the A-pillar and roofline receiving a new glossy black finish which matches the overall accents on the car. The front and rear bumpers make the i3 get a wider look. The front bumper has a matte-black U-shaped accent which surrounds the horizontal LED turn indicators. The LED low and high-beams along with the daytime running lights come standard now.

The rear of the car gets a horizontal chrome strip across the tailgate with the badges getting pushed out towards the edges. The i3 also gets two new colours (as shown in the pictures) a Melbourne Red Metallic and an Imperial Blue Metallic.bourne Red metallic and Imperial Blue metallic.

The interior hasn’t really received any changes as such. The Giga World Trim now offers Giga Brown Leather and Carum Spice Grey wool cloth seats. The new i3 also gets the latest version of BMW’s iDrive interface. The 10-inch touchscreen is now of a much higher resolution and the voice recognition uses cloud-based speech processing.

What’s new is, for 2018 BMW is now offering a sportier version of the i3 dubbed the i3s. It’s the more powerful version of the standard i3, leaving the output unchanged at 170-horsepower, you get 184-horsepower and 199 pound-feet of torque.

The track is much wider by 1.57-inches, and the ride-height is 0.4-inches lower giving the car a much more aggressive stance.

The i3s has a sport suspension which has unique springs, dampers and anti-roll bars. You also get 20-inch light-alloy wheels which are half-an-inch wider than the standard version.

The Sport driving mode in the i3s tightens the steering and sharpens acceleration giving a 0-60mph time of 6.8-seconds, which is 0.4-seconds better than the standard version. You get a higher top speed of 100mph as opposed to the 93-mph limit.
