HomePod, Apple’s Siri-powered wireless speaker, won’t be coming to us in December after all. Apple shared the information with CNBC on Friday that they will be delaying the HomePod launch until next year.
“We can’t wait for people to experience HomePod, Apple’s breakthrough wireless speaker for the home, but we need a little more time before it’s ready for our customers,” Apple said. “We’ll start shipping in the US, UK and Australia in early 2018,” it added.
Apple’s employees in China and California have been testing HomePod for multiple weeks now, and over the course of its testing period multiple software updates have been released. HomePod currently is compatible with all devices starting with the iPhone 5s, running iOS 11.
The speaker was originally announced during WWDC in June, with a price tag of $349 – the speaker was supposed to see the light of day in the United States, United Kingdom, and Australia this December, with a wider rollout in 2018. But all that seems to have changed.
