Well, the iOS 11 GM definitely leaked almost everything Apple tried so hard to keep under wraps this time. Let’s start with the first thing, Portrait Lighting. Apple seems to enhancing the Portrait Mode on iPhone to create DSLR photos using depth of field and by stimulating differing lighting effects.

There’s also a new video recording resolution and capture speeds, we may see the following –

  • 1080p HD at 240 fps480 MB with 1080p HD at 240 fps
  • 4K at 24 fps(Footer) 270 MB with 4K at 24 fps (film style)(HEVC Footer) 135 MB with 4K at 24 fps (film style)
  • 4K at 60 fps(Footer) 450 MB with 4K at 60 fps (higher resolution, smoother)(HEVC Footer) 400 MB with 4K at 60 fps (higher resolution, smoother)
  • We’re also seeing evidence that the OLED iPhone will feature a True Tone Display for white balancing like the iPad Pro lineup. As for the new resolution, we believe we’ll see 1125×2436 based on this firmware.

FaceID seems to be what Apple is going with, instead of Pearl ID – the facial recognition feature which is probably going to be replacing Touch ID. Inside the build, there were instructions on how to enable SOS mode by pressing the Power and Volume Switch. Keep in mind, the Lock switch will no longer be called a Lock Switch. It will now simply be called the Side Button which will be used to interact with iOS without a Home Button.

We also see some more fun, animated versions of Emoji characters called Animoji which will use facial tracking to replicate your mood in messages!

We also see a revised version of AirPods which are seen below, these won’t be a major upgrade but a minor revision as the internal name simply changes from AirPods1,1 to AirPods1,2.

The main difference is, the charging light has been shifted to the outside of the case, therefore eliminating the need for you to open the case everytime to check your battery status.
