Google announced Android N at their annual Google I/O developer conference back in May, and they ran a poll asking fans to submit name suggestions for the official name of the next major version of Android, which previously was simply called “Android N” yesterday Google announced they’ve decided to go with the name “Nougat” being the official codename for Android 7.0

Android 7.0/Nougat focuses on performance, security and productivity, which allows applications to run much faster and take less storage on the device.
