Are you on the fence deciding what phone to go out and buy between the iPhone 4 And 4S? Well you’re in luck! We today present to you “Our Version Of The Comparison” which should definitely get you the correct phone! Lets start, shall we?

This post will be divided into a few parts –

  • The Design
  • The Camera
  • Siri
  • The Screen
  • Differences
  • What We Think About The 4S
  • What we initially wanted before the launch (Our predictions before launch)
  • What our writers (including myself) think about the 4S vs 4

Reading all the topics above you would definitely think “Man this is gonna be a long post” well you are correct!

The Design

You can’t complain much. If you go back to the history of the iPhone’s (leaving the 2G as that was their first phone) in such little time they have achieved so much! Take the 3G and 3GS for example. Apple is just following their pattern. Two Same Design, different internals.

Thats about it.

A lot of us predicted that the design would remain the same but the screen size would change, unfortunately it didn’t and a lot of people including myself were utterly disappointed and mark my words “If Apple doesn’t change the design on the upcoming iPhone (iPhone 5 or whatever) i will never ever even look at Apple Phones” its not a threat or anything but i actually mean it because i was extremely disheartened when i saw the exact same design as my iPhone 4 which i still use and guess what, i have Siri on it which to be honest works absolutely perfect!

Once the 4S was launched, the next day i had a Torch 9860 in my hand. And the iPhone 4 in my cupboard.

Yes, that is true. Any-who even though the biggest drawback in the 4S for me was the design it still is the best phone till now Apple has made. And if it doesn’t bother you much then well go ahead and buy this phone. But take my advice. Apple might launch the iPhone 5 or at least announce it in the March event, if you can wait till then, you might just get the best of both worlds.

The Camera

If your phone is your primary photography device then boy the 4S is your need. I have not one, not two, not three camera’s i have a lot of them some of which including SLR’s, D-SLR’s, Point And Shoot, etc.

So no, camera is not my main objective but the minimum i expect from a phone is 5MP + Auto-focus + Flash. Is that asking for too much? Well if you’re paying $200+ for a phone i don’t think its asking for too much. The 4S camera delivers more light to its sensors which gives you great Image Quality, there will be samples below. The iPhone 4 camera is just as good and if you don’t have a very sensitive eye in pictures then you should be fine with the iPhone 4. Or any other phone for that matter of fact.

Also if you don’t want headaches of your memory choking up with the 1080P HD Videos, Pictures on your phone and COMPUTER, you’d be better off with an iPhone 4. But the camera is actually superb in the 4S! That is something which Apple has excelled on! So that tears it, if you use your phone for ONLY taking pictures then this is your phone, if not then any phone is yours.

4S

Siri

Ahh. Siri is something that made this phone sell. Its no joke. Most people hate the 4S, the main reason to buy this phone is for two reasons – Siri And The Camera!

Thats it. Siri is by far the best Mobile Assistant to date. I have tried and sued Siri on the 4S and 4 and there is a big difference if you use it all the time, not everyone notices it but a lot of people do. Its not the speed of the device or Siri it just uses your devices mobile network internet. So your phone speed has nothing to do with it. There isn’t much to say about this “Female, Male ghost” so if you have $$$ just for Siri you can surely buy this. But if you got $10 then just get an iPhone 4 + Spire + Siri Proxy.

The Screen

The best screen on the market. Well the iPhone 4 And 4S use the EXACT same screen, so if you’re thinking the 4S has a newer, better screen you need to visit a Mental Hospital. Sadly. Anyways, the only difference is that the glass panel is now glued on a bit more to the retina display which it already was but oh-well.

The gaming on this screen is by-far the best experience. Watching movies is a cake-walk. Viewing pictures is a bed of roses. This is totally your decision if you want the 4 or the 4S because they have the “EXACT SAME SCREEN”

Differences

The main differences in the GSM version iPhone 4 VS iPhone 4S are – Siri, Better Camera, Antenna Changes (4S, it has an antenna like the Verizon iPhone 4), A5 dual-core processor. And thats pretty much it, the main differences.

We have discussed nearly all of them above and if you still can’t make up your mind then the following bits should help. If all the features above make you think and want the 4S then just go buy, there is nothing wrong with it. But in my eyes nearly everything is wrong with that phone.

The Predictions

The main predictions were – Newer Design and a 4″+ screen. Well we got nothing of that.

The Newer Design was going to have a tear-drop home-button, aluminum body (only one concept)  but that was a total fake, and the last one was having an iPad designed iPhone.

The 4″ screen well we all still want it and this prediction carries on to the iPhone 5 (or the other mystery name).

What our writers think –

Apoorv The 4S was a huge letdown to me as it did not do me justice. I was really expecting at the minimum a newer design, the screen size really doesn’t bother me, the design does. Siri and the new 8MP Camera were the only two good things in this phone because i already had the iPad 2 and i never thought the iPhone 4 was slow by ANY chance no matter how many themes, tweaks, apps i had open/active it never felt slow, never lagged, or anything.

Lets see what apple has next on the menu for us.

Alex M. Not a big fan of the iPhone, as you know I’m a big Android fan boy with both the Transformer Prime and Droid Bionic right now. I actually thought about getting the iPhone 4S before it was announced but when I heard there weren’t to much differences, I decided to go to Motorola and get the Droid Bionic. Yes Siri is cool, Retina display is gorgeous, but the same design for two years in a row? That’s not cool.

Isaac Cortez (icormat) I remember when the iPhone 3G was announced. Much faster, new design, 3G, GPS, etc… It was a major update from the original iPhone, some tech specs changed. All this had a repetition on the iPhone 4. The i4 came with 5mpx Camera, Gorgeus Retina Display, A4 processor, thinner design, etc…, as well, a big update. But what about the iPhone 3GS and the iPhone 4S. Does it worth it buying? Well, the same story have been for the two idevices. When the iPhone 3GS was released, only the processor, the camera, and some little specs were changed. At comparison between the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS, you would have noticed, that the 2.0 mpx was changed for 3.2 mpx (including video recording), the the processor was changed, and the “Voice control” was added. The same issue happened with the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S. The iPhone 4 camera (5.0 mpx) was changed for a 8.0 mpx, the A4 single core processor was changed for the dual-core one (A5 chipset), and “Voice Control” was chnaged for a more advanced assistand, Siri.  No major upgrade is noticed between the above. Then, why did the iPhone 4S has sold in great quantities? I think it’s because Apple exclusivity, as the the majority of the buyers comes from Android, WP7, or BlackBerry. Upgraders, including myself, will be waiting to see what the iPhone 5 has for us.
