Samsung has gone ahead and announced their flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S8 and S8+. Let’s have a look at what the new devices have.
Right of the bat, we can see that a dedicated home button seems to be outdated, because this device doesn’t have one. It’s got quite a pleasing aesthetic factor to it, because of the rounded edges, and the display on this device has been upgraded to Corning Gorilla Glass 5. There’s hardly any bezel on this device, there’s a 5.8-inch screen on the S8 and a 6.2-inch screen on the S8+.
Now, the Home Button is actually hidden underneath the screen, making the screen look must bigger.
Both devices come with Android 7.0 with a 64-bit octa-core processor, with 4GB or RAM, 64GB of internal storage which is expandable through a MicroSD up to 256GB, with a 3,000mAh battery in the S8 and 3,500mAh in the S8+.
Camera’s seem to be of prime importance with any phone manufacturer in today’s date, therefore on both devices Samsung has decided to give a 12-meagapixel dual-pixel F1.7 camera which takes three images in one go, to produce the best one. On the front, they’ve blessed you with an 8MP camera with F1.7, facial recognition and smart autofocus.
Other sensors on the device include a pressure sensor, iris sensor, heart-rate sensor, proximity sensor and a fingerprint sensor. The phone’s are also IP68 Water and Dust Resistant, as expected, and both have wireless and fast charging capabilities.
The device will be available for preorder in the UK from today, up until 19th of April on their website, along with operators such as EE, Sky Mobile and Tesco Mobile. Anyone who preorders the device, will have it by the 20th of April. The devices will be available on the 28th of April in United Kingdom and Europe.
The S8 will cost £689 while the Galaxy S8+ will cost £779 in the UK.
